Buddhism in Bhutan (10 Photos)

Bhutan’s history is woven intricately with Tibetan Buddhism. Monks and lamas are a vibrant and integral part of the community, elders spend their days in prayer, young and old make their pilgrimage to monasteries that seem to hang from the sides of mountains. The idea of devotion infuses every aspect of life. Using an 8×0 field camera, I continued my investigation into the mundane and sublime aspects of my surroundings on a trip to Thimpu, Bhutan during 2010. The generosity of the culture is at the heart of this work. Young artists, monks and ‘householders’ welcomed me into their lives to document and explore a culture so different from my own.- Regina DeLuise

I love them all. The shot of the prayer flags is a good finish for this series.

Spectacular images; bringing color and life to black and white… or is it the other way around?
