Mady and Monette, Twins (8 Photos)
British photographer Maja Daniels first spotted identical twins Monette and Mady on the streets of Paris. “They have lived their whole life closely together and are, as they say, inseparable,” Daniels says. “Monette and Mady do not just share a close relationship as sisters; as a couple they act, model and dance together and the city of Paris is their main stage.” On the occasions when they dress in different outfits, Daniels says, people stop and ask them if they’ve argued. While twins have provided a rich subject for many photographers, Daniels was interested in visual representations of an older generation, and plans to continue photographing these sisters as they age.
Daniels’ project received special acknowledgment in the 2012 Magenta Flash Forward competition, a juried competition for emerging photographers in the UK, Canada and the US.
The Magenta Foundation is presenting its Flash Forward Festival now in Boston through June 10, with lectures, panel discussions, indoor and outdoor exhibitions and educational and networking opportunities for emerging photographers. Details are available on the web site of the Flash Forward Festival.
