The Magnum Foundation was established in 2008 to support in-depth documentary photography. As part of its mission, the foundation partners with nonprofits to provide a visual identity for the issues they address. On December 3rd, the foundation will be sponsoring an exhibit of prints at 25 CPW Gallery, on behalf of the Green World Campaign, which plants trees to restore the ecology and economy of some of the world’s poorest places. Drawing on the Magnum Photos archive, Giving Trees celebrates the tree and focuses on the necessity of acting now to “Re-Green the World.”
The exhibition features the work of Bruce Davidson, Gilles Peress, Alec Soth, Steve McCurry, Jim Goldberg, Mark Power, Jean Gaumy, Stuart Franklin, Larry Towell, Martine Franck, Danny Lyon, Werner Bischof Estate, Trent Parke, Peter Marlow, Gueorgui Pinkhassov, John Vink, Harry Gruyaert, Jonas Bendiksen, and other selected photographers found through a juried open call.
